Busy Week for Dr. Chiem
Dr. Alan Chiem brings us this week's images of the week. In one week he used ultrasound to inform his management for two different patients with very different problems.
The first patient had a recurrent retinal detachment seen on ultrasound.
The patient's vision was preserved thanks to his timely diagnosis.
The second patient has a ruptured AAA with free intra-peritoneal fluid.

Note that the true lumen is much smaller than the overall AAA. Had Dr. Chiem just measured the lumen, the >6cm AAA may have been missed.
