Sonographic findings Paralytic Ileus:
x Absence of peristalsis, usually affecting the entire bowel.
x Dilated bowel loops.
x Toxic megacolon: Gas-distended bowel loops with thinning of the anterior wall
x The posterior bowel walls cannot be evaluated because of extensive intraluminal gas and associated shadowing.

Accuracy of ultrasound diagnosis Paralytic Ileus: Same as in mechanical bowel obstruction
